The Ultimate Performance SUV
2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8
Where capability was once measured with inexact adjectives – more, greater, higher, better – now it can be measured by a single standard: the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. It's the Grand Cherokee you've always known on a scale that's off the charts: massively powerful, all-weather capable and fixated on driver control and comfort. A rare breed indeed.
Grand Cherokee SRT Technologies
Awe-Inspiring Powertrain
Under its uniquely chiseled aluminum hood lies a 6.4L HEMI® V-8, which creates a breathtaking 470 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. The new powertrain generates 50 hp and 45 lb-ft more than its predecessor. That power is routed to all four corners to maximize grip at a launch and through curves. Drivers can control the automatic transmission using steering wheel-mounted paddle shift levers or the console-mounted AutoStick gear selector.
Fuel Saver Technology helps to conserve resources by shutting down four cylinders under certain driving conditions, greatly improving highway fuel economy and enabling a 450-mile range.
Outstanding Ride, Handling and Capability
A 146-percent improvement in torsional rigidity marks the largest structural improvement over the last-generation Grand Cherokee SRT8. The Quadra-Trac SRT full-time all-wheel-drive system tailors the Grand Cherokee SRT8 to almost any road condition or driver demand. Using the center console-mounted Selec-Track rotary control, the driver may select one of five modes, optimizing several powertrain calibration and suspension settings to equip the Grand Cherokee for dry pavement, snow, mud or sand, towing or track duty.
Split-spoke 20-inch forged aluminum wheels are wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Verde tires, giving the Grand Cherokee SRT8 plenty of grip in a variety of conditions.
Numerous chassis improvements enable the 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 to achieve .90g of lateral acceleration while preserving its ability to tow up to 5,000 pounds.
Benchmark Braking
Deceleration must match acceleration in any performance vehicle. Six-piston Brembo calipers clamp 15-inch vented rotors in front, while four piston calipers grab 13.8-inch discs in the rear. The Grand Cherokee SRT8 stops from 60 mph in an astounding 116 feet. Cooling ducts integrated into the belly pan send fresh air to the brakes for continuous fade-free performance.
Aggressive and Functional Exterior
The Grand Cherokee SRT8 rides one inch lower than its standard counterpart, giving it better stability and a more aggressive stance. Deep scallops in the lightweight aluminum hood incorporate heat vents for improved cooling. The SRT8-exclusive front fascia houses unique LED running lamps for a distinct look up front. The rear fascia incorporates a diffuser for improved airflow and makes way for dual 4-inch exhaust outlets. An integrated spoiler mounted high on the rear glass increases downforce to improve stability.
Race-Inspired and High-Performance Interior
The 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8's interior is a luxurious driver-focused space. Soft leather swatches complement suede inserts and thick bolstering to inspire comfortable confidence. An interactive 6.5-inch in-dash display houses Performance Pages, which log acceleration times and braking distances in realtime. The new leather-wrapped, flat-bottomed steering wheel gives drivers the look and feel of a race-built machine. The theme continues with carbon fiber inserts tastefully placed throughout the instrument panel and center stack.
